My story
As a child growing up in Baracoa, Cuba, nothing excited me more than getting my hands on something to create. I drew hundreds of patterns for my mom’s small business as a seamstress. I spent my middle school days in the Painting and Carving Class at the local Cultural Center, and as time went on, I spent countless hours visiting neighboring blacksmith shops. It was during this time that my lifelong love of transforming metals into useful and practical objects, was born.
As an Industrial Automation Engineer with more than 30 years of designing and fabricating pieces of equipment for the Automobile, Pharma/Food, Indoor, and Outdoor household items, and several other processes and Industries, I was able to develop the electromechanical and welding skills that I use today to create abstract sculptures out of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze.
The rebirth of my artistic spirit came from 2016 to 2019 as I dove into several workshops in drawing, painting, carving, sculpting and pottery with several renowned artists in my hometown. From October 2019 to February 2020, I took a Clay Figurative Sculpture class with the renowned and nationally recognized sculptor Virginia Abbott at the Fowler Art and Education Center in Bethlehem.
In November of 2021 I was invited to join 11 other renowned local artists to be part of the Grand Opening of Rigo’s Art Gallery in Allentown. The show ran until Feb this year and my piece was very well received and praised by the art community and general audience in the Lehigh Valley.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my artwork with others. I believe that art has the power to transform lives and I am committed to using my artwork to make a positive impact on the world. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and my art. I hope you enjoy exploring my pieces, and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments.
